Demand on hike in entertainment tax worrying dubbed films producers

As there is shortage of theaters for straight Telugu films, four sectors of Telugu film industry is demanding hike in entertainment tax on dubbed films to 50%. According to them, currently the tax on dubbed films is only 20% tax which they want it to be increased by 30% more like in Tamil Nadu. A committee formed by the film chamber wrote to the State government on the issue. In this regard the Telugu producers and dubbing writers have expressed their unhappiness on this issue in Chennai. According to Gantasala Ratnakumar, RK Bhagawan and Sashank Vennelakanti, many families are dependent on these dubbed films for the past 60 years. Therefore the producers council in Chennai also submitted that any action for such benefits must not be taken without consulting them.
