South Indian International Movie Awards, Dubai 2015

Recognizing the art of South Indian Film Industry, SIIMA annually gets together the finest Stars and Technicians of Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam Industries to celebrate South Cinema globally. After successfully hosting three editions in Dubai, Sharjah and Malaysia, this year SIIMA revisited the enthralling city of Dubai.

With glitz and glamour, the event was held across 2 days with entertaining performances, award presentation, red carpet and more. SIIMA 2015, Dubai saw the attendance of the highly acclaimed stars from all four industries namely Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Dhanush, Allu Arjun, Yash, Shruti Haasan, Taapsee, Amala Paul, Shriya Saran, Rana Daggubati, Trisha and many other notable names. After being the Biggest Movie awards in South India, this year will see a record TV viewership with SIIMA being the first ever movie awards to be telecasted across 4 regional channels simultaneously.

With all the extravaganza, the event saw a mixed bag of emotions wherein there was a dedication made by his family to movie mogul D Rama Naidu, towards his contribution to Indian cinema. Legendary artists of Indian cinema, KPAC Lalitha and Bharathiraja were felicitated with lifetime achievement award.

Further recognizing stars who delivered an outstanding performance in leading roles, SIIMA awards was presented to actors in the category of Best actor and Best actress. Winners of the category -Best actor (Tamil) was Dhanush while Hansika won the Best actress (Tamil). Best actor (Telugu) was won by Balakrishna with Shruti Haasan winning the Best actress (Telugu). From the Kannada industry Yash won the Best actor award and Radhika Pandit won the Best actress award. Best actor (Malayalam) was Nivin Pauly and Best actress award (Malayalam) was Manju Warrier. With a huge fan following and popularity amongst the youth a special recognition was presented by SIIMA to Allu Arjun for being the ‘Youth icon of South India’.

Taking entertainment to new heights, SIIMA 2015 witnessed Usha Uthup having yesteryear stars Khusboo, Hansika, Balakrishna, Venkatesh and Suhasini Maniratnam jive with her to some classics, making Hungama at SIIMA happen.

With powerful performances, SIIMA 2015 saw the biggest names from the South Industry being a part of the grand stage. Among the star performers were Shruti Haasan, Amala Paul, Taapsee Pannu, Devi Sri Prasad, Shriya Saran, Usha Uthup, Rima Kallingal, Pranitha, Kriti Kharbanda, Adah Sharma, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Sharmiela Mandre, Pooja Hegde and Nikki Galrani who set the stage on fire with enthralling performances of the year.
