Allu Ramalingaiah completes 99 years on October 1!

It was on 1 October 1921 that Allu Ramalingaiah was born. He passed away on 30 July 2004 after doing more than 1000 films as an actor. As the legendary artist's 99th birth anniversary is celebrated tomorrow, it's time to remember him.

By playing a range of roles, Allu has left an indelible mark. His comic timing was perfect. He shined in a number of roles, be it of a comedy sidekick, a friend, a doctor and even a cop. Having done hundreds of movies, there was no role that Allu didn't do.

He rendered yeoman services as a Homeopathy doctor. It's said that Ramalingaiah used to suggest medicines to his cine colleagues as well, thanks to his experience.

A recipient of Padma Sri, he made a name for himself as a producer. Allu Aravind, his son, has said that he and his son (Allu Arjun) have been in the film industry after his father. "Recently, when I was at an airport, a middle-aged woman greeted him and introduced me to her mother as the son of Allu Ramalingaiah," the Geetha Arts supremo said.
