Katragadda Prasad, the film industry veteran, has fondly recalled the contributions of the singing legend SP Balasubrahmanyam and late film producer DVS Raju.

In his address on the occasion, Prasad described SPB not only as a timeless singer but also a great humanitarian. SPB was a recipient of prestigious civilian honours. He spoke at length about the contributions of DVS Raju as well.

"Raju garu worked towards building the Telugu film industry in the toughest of times. There was a time when Rayalaseema was reeling under famine, and India was defending itself in a war waged by Pakistan. Diviseema 'uppena' unleashed havoc. Trade bodies formed to build the film industry saw immense contributions in several ways from Raju garu. He soldiered on along with NTR. He worked for the welfare of cine workers," Prasad added.

On 22 March 2002, the then President KR Narayanan awarded SPB and Raju Padmasri.
