Hindi film actress Nandits Das will now been seen in a Telugu movies for the first time. The film titled Kamli, being made by Apoorva Chitra banner and directed by K.N.T. Sastry, was launched today, 9th June, at Rock Castle in Hyderabad. Chief Guest and Warangal MP Ravindra Nayak sounded the clap board while actor Rajendra Prasad switched on the camera. There after the film's cast and crew spoke to press about the film.

"I am doing Kamli because it is an art film". Heroine Nandita Das said "Although I have acted in the other South Indian language films this is the first time that I am acting in a Telugu film. Being a Sociology student myself I can understand the plight of the Lambadas, on whom this film is based".

"The story is based on a true incident that happened in Hyderabad" director K.N.T. Sastry revealed "it is about the Lambada community and their lifestyle. Nandita Das is playing the title role of Kamli in this heroine oriented film that deals with social issues like child adaptation and others. The late Soundarya was supposed to do this film but it did not materialize. B.C. Haricharan Prasad is producing this film. We will complete the film shooting in two weeks itself, within the slums of Hyderabad".

Actor Shafi, who is portraying the role of Nandita's husband in Kamli, spoke of his role "Nandita and I are a married couple and are daily wage labourers. The story revolves around our daughter".
