On the eve of 90th Birth Anniversary of Padmasri Dr Allu Ramalingaiah, the 2012 Allu Ramalingaiah Award has been presented to writer, actor and director Tanikella Bharani. The practice of this award function is taking place from 2004 onwards. Actor and MP Dr Chiranjeevi felicitated Tanikella Bharani with Golden Anklet (Swarna Kankanam), State Minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar with a Shawl and Saaripalli Kondala Rao with a garland. The prestigious award function was graced by the entire family members of Late Sri Allu Ramalingaiah, MLA Kottapalli Subba Rayudu, Brahmanandam, Kannababu, Ghanta Srinivas Rao, Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy, etc.
Later addressing the gathering Megastar Chiranjeevi said, “I can’t express in words my bonding with my father-in-law. He always treated me like his own son right from the time I met him. He even used to share his experiences with me. He was not only an actor but also served the public as a doctor. He was a freedom fighter. He worked hard for the social equality. While returning back to Chennai by train after the completion of ‘Manavoori Pandavulu’ shooting, he tested me by inviting me for a drink. But I refused to drink saying that I’m a devotee of Lord Hanumaan. Since I passed his test he had a good opinion and got his daughter Surekha married to me. Every moment I spent with him is a sweet memory for me. Tanikella Bharani garu deserves this award and we are all very glad to have felicitated him today.”
Tanikella Bharani said, “I’m very happy to see the entire Chiranjeevi’s family members in this award function. I consider getting this Allu Ramalingaiah Kalapeetam National Award this year as my ‘Purva Janma Sukrutham’ (benefit due to my past life Sadana). On this occasion I whole-heartedly thank everyone.”
Ram Charan Tej and Allu Arjun also spoke at the award function and recollected their grandfather’s memories. According to them, no actor has surpassed Allu Ramalingaiah in doing different characters. “His movies inspire us a lot”, commented Allu Arjun. “We still burst out laughter when we hear our grandfather’s name at home”, said Ram Charan.
