Abhijeeth Poondla's Exclusive Interview on Chandamama Kathalu

It's very rare that an actor without any filmy background makes his acting debut in a Telugu film and straight away grabs the international offer. Following engineering college, this young and talented guy moved to a job and worked for a company for about six months during when he set his stage for the next part of his life. Finally, he landed a role in Praveen Sattaru's LBW and found his place in the world. Later, his luck and proven talent made him appear in a British-based Asian film titled 'Nice 2 Meet U'. Today, we are introducing this aspiring actor, Abhijeet Poondla, who is presently casting in Praveen Sattaru's soon to release 'Chandamama Kathalu'. Check out what he talked about CK in the exclusive interview with Ragalahari.

How do you define your role in 'Chandamama Kathalu'?
I play a middle class muslim boy 'Ashraf' who owns a small grocery store in Hyderabad. He is a Good guy who believes in himself and works hard to progress in life. He is madly in love with a beautiful girl 'Haseena' who is quite practical and materialistic in life.

Which scene was the most challenging one for you in 'Chandamama Kathalu'?

The scene where Haseena gives me a reality check in the store and I go speechless. Praveen sir explained exactly what he needed from me and I had to give it a thought in no time which was quite a challenge, as the emotion was complicated. But the required expression had to be subtle and accurate to conclude the scene on my face in close-up.

How was it working with your co-stars?
It was a short span but I had great time working with Richa. She's smart yet child-like in lot of ways and kinda reminds me of Kangana's character in 'Queen'. she's "Mera sense of humour aapko dheere dheere patha chalega " type. lol :))

Any funny and interesting incidents on sets?
There are quite a few actually. One of them is that my close friends dropped by to see me on the sets one day and the actor who played Richa's father in the film, Mr.Chadda, came in my caravan during recess. He was so funny. We cracked up everytime he said something and he had no clue as to why were we laughing so much. No offense Chadda ji. :P lol

Do you expect that 'CK' is going to be a trend setter?
Anthology is not a new format to Telugu or world cinema. We've had films that did well commercially in the past. However the emotional and entertainment quotient of 'Chandamama Kathalu' is quite high as compared to regular standards. I just hope this film does so well that it encourages many other filmmakers to come forward and entertain us with many more path breaking films.

Tell us about your experience working with Praveen Sattaru?
Fortunately, this is the second time I'm working with him after LBW. He is one of the most passionate and sensible filmmakers of this generation. The idea of being a part of his vision as an actor is in itself a great experience for me that I always cherish. It's lot of fun working with him.

What kind of onscreen characters would you like to play in future?
I'm already lucky to play the quintessential good guy next door in all films I worked so far. But given a chance, there are many roles I would love to play and challenge myself as an actor like a Patriot, a Warrior, an Army officer, a Secret agent, a Con man, a Careless spoilt brat and a Playboy are on top of my list. I'm a believer.

Any dream role?
Legolas in 'Lord of the Rings' played by Orlando Bloom. That's my dream role.

What are your upcoming projects?
My British Hollywood film 'Nice 2 Meet U' is slated to release this monsoon. I'm currently shooting for an untitled Telugu feature film as a solo lead under the reputed banner VMC Combines which produced many blockbusters such as 'Simhadri' and 'Annamayya' in the past.
