Forum Purple Run Press Meet

Hyderabad, 25th September, 2018: As part of its CSR program, Forum Sujana Mall is hosting the 2nd Edition of Forum Purple Run- India's biggest run on Alzheimer's awareness on the 30th of September 2018. During a press conference held at the mall, the team unveiled this year's T-shirt, Medal and Route Map for the media. The run Starts and Ends at Forum Sujana Mall, Kukatpally and passes on through main road covering Cyber Tower junction, Trident Hotel, IKEA, Bio-Diversity and then turns at Gachibowli stadium to return back via same route. First edition of Purple Run saw 700 participants running and the 2nd edition will be witnessed by more than 1200 runners running in Hyderabad. The registered participants can collect their Bibs and T-shirts on 27th and 28th Sept from the Mall and all those who wish to participate in this run can visit Forum Sujana Mall or Eventshigh.com to register till 28th Sept 2018.

Speaking on the Occasion Mr. Tanveer Shaikh, Cluster Head for Forum Hyderabad, Chennai, and Udaipur said "Alzheimer is a disease that affects different parts of the brain but severely effects the areas of the brain that control memory, language, and thinking skills. Most People assume that Alzheimer is a normal part of aging which is false. Forum Malls aims to create awareness through - THE PURPLE RUN instilling inspiration & information among people of various age groups by active participation in campaign across 7 malls & 6 cities".

The Purple Run offers 4 categories of running distances - 3 km (Family Run), 5 km, 10 km and the half marathon distance of 21km, giving each participant an opportunity to run in their comfort zone. The roads of Hyderabad will be graced by some of the finest long distance athletes from across the city along with other running enthusiasts who will put their best foot forward to achieve the desired goals.

There are cash prizes worth Rs. 17 lakhs and gift hampers to be won; the top cash prizes are Rs.35000 for the 21km run, and Rs.20000 for the 10km run and the runners in the 3km and 5km categories will win gift hampers. To participate, one can register with a nominal registration fee and a part of the proceeds shall go to NIMHANS towards treatment and research for Alzheimer's.

The Purple Run is being organized at all 7 Forum Malls across 6 cities simultaneously and will kick off on 30th September from their respective malls (i.e. The Forum Sujana Mall in Hyderabad, The Forum Neighborhood Mall in Whitefield, The Forum Vijaya Mall in Chennai, The Forum Fiza Mall in Mangalore,

The Forum Center City in Mysore, The Forum Mall Koramangala in Bangalore and The Forum Mall, in Udaipur). 20,000 people are set to run for Alzheimer's Awareness at the same time all 2nd edition.

Speaking on the Occasion Dr. Ivothi - Phvsiatrist said Dementia is a gradual deterioration of the memory that causes progressive decline in thinking abi\\vj memory and executive function of human brain, thereby impacting everyday abilities. An estimate? 41 lakh people above the age of 60 years in India are affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Alzheimer's disease and brain stroke are the two most common causes of dementia in India. We are extremely happy that Forum Sujana Mall has stepped forward to raise awareness about the Dementia through the second edition of Forum Purple Run.

About Alzheimer's - Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia, it's the Sheading cause of death in people over 55 years of age and in India, more than 4 million people suffer from various forms of this illness. Despite this, there's a stigma attached to mental illnesses amongst us.
