The event was held on January 20 at Necklace Road, People’s Plaza, Hyderabad and witnessed participation of students from DPS, DSE Attapur, DSE Manikonda and Meridian School,.

The chief guests for the occasion, Mr. Sunil Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Government, R&D and Transport, Hyderabad, Telangana, were an integral part of the ceremony. Along with 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, who formed a human chain and displayed creative messages for the cause of planting more trees, a major highlight of the initiative was also gifting NextBooks to underprivileged children from Government Boys Primary School, East Marredpally.

Shedding more light on the importance of an initiative like this, Mr. Darpan Vasudev, Vice President, Next Education said, “Climatic changes and global warming have been the topic of discussion at major conferences all over the world. Governments across the world are pulling all strings to find a viable and sustainable solution to these environmental threats. Since nobody’s insulated from its hazardous effects, we thought it was important to spread awareness in children by inviting them to participate in the Green Next activity in which children had to write slogans about the hazards of global warming. The objective of the Green Next initiative was to introduce hands-on and practical activities for children. We were overwhelmed with the thought-provoking messages they displayed on their placards.”

After students wrote out their slogans on the importance of planting and saving the trees, the guest member of Next Education, along with the principals of schools and chief guests picked out 10 participants who performed exceptionally well who received awards. All teachers and students who attended the activity were given certificates of participation.
