Sri Latha Nagaraja Reddy is her birth name. Nagaraja Reddy and Lalitha Reddy gave birth to her. She has two siblings named Kumaraswamy Reddy and Ramprasad Reddy.
Roja is married to the director of Ace Tamil R.K.Selvamani Since 2002. With a son called Krishna Lohith Selvamani and a daughter named Anshumalika Selvamani, the pair was blessed.

From Nagarjuna University, she earned her Masters in Political Science. She is a trained Kuchipudi dancer.
In 1991, she joined the film industry with the Telugu movie Prema Thapassu.
The noted director R.K. Selvamani later welcomed her to the Tamil film industry in his Chembaruthi movie. She was partnered opposite to an actor Prashanth. The film was a big success, opening the way for her in the Tamil film industry.

She quit the TDP in 2009 and later entered YSRCP. She is officially joined in the YSR Congress. She was successfully elected from the Nagari constituency of Andhra Pradesh as an MLA.

For her debut film Sarpayagam (1991), which was published in Telugu, she received the 'Nandi Special Jury Award.'
