Samantha Akkineni has wrapped up shooting for the Telugu remake of Tamil super hit movie, '96', which is tentatively titled 'Jaanu'. Also starring Sharwanand, the film is being directed by C.Prem Kumar, who directed the original.
"And its a wrap !! Another special film and a role that has challenged me to be better than I was yesterday.. Thankyou to my director Prem and costar Sharwanand for being a dream team #Janu .. living my best life . Grateful always . " (sic), Samantha tweeted.
'96', released in 2018, has turned out to be a cult classic in Tamil and the lead pair Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha have been hailed for their heart-touching performances. We will have to wait and see how Sharwanand and Samantha get into their shoes. The Kannada remake of '96', '99', starred Ganesh and Bhavana.
The music score of '96' was a huge hit and the music director for the original, Govind Vasantha, has been retained for the Telugu remake as well. Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry has been penning lyrics. Dil Raju is producing this movie under Sri Venkateswara Creations banner.
