The 68th National Film Awards for the films released in 2020 were announced today. Since it was a pandemic year, the number of films in contention was fewer than usual.

The Telugu-language film 'Colour Photo' won a National Award in the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu category. 'Kanche', 'Pelli Choopulu', 'Ghazi', 'Mahanati' and 'Jersey' had won the award in the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, respectively.

'Colour Photo', a period film, was fronted by Suhaas and Chandini Chowdary, with Sunil playing the antagonist. Debutant director Sandeep Raj wielded the megaphone. It was a direct-to-service release.

In the Best Music Director (Songs) category, SS Thaman has won the National Award for 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo', whose songs were monstrous hits and were praised for the musical quality of 'Samajavaragamana'.

'Natyam', a less-known Telugu film, fetched two awards. Sandhya Raju (who is the daughter-in-law of Satyam Ramalingaraju) won an award in the Best Choreography category. And the film's make-up artist, TV Rambabu, won an award in the Best Make-Up category. (Note: Although this film was released in theatres in 2021, its censor formalities were completed in 2020).
