Chiranjeevi doing a genre film will be historic!

Kamal Haasan is an aged star and it's fitting that he has played a grandfather in 'Vikram'. Pa.Ranjith egged on Rajinikanth to play his age (not exactly but somewhat) in 'Kabali' and 'Kaala'. It's the wish of many that Chiranjeevi, too, starts playing his age on the big screen at least once or twice.

Besides Chiru playing his age (not really 65 but something like 50), what will be great is him doing a pure genre film. What is a genre film? 'Vikram' is the brightest example. In this Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial, action and investigative procedural are what matter throughout. Films like 'Acharya' and 'Khaidi No. 150' are multi-genre films. Chiru's upcoming movies like 'Godfather' and 'Waltair Veerayya' are going to be multi-genre films.

After 'Vikram', it is clear that the audience are not against big stars doing genre films. There is a caveat, though. Kamal is no Megastar and has always been known for supporting novel stories that don't need him to behave like a star. Chiru is a Megastar who can't afford to hurt his fans by doing only action and doing zero comedy/romance.

Even so, if Chiru wants to do something daring, now is the time. He is running out of time. If he does a genre film like Kamal has done, it will be historic for the reason that a megastar has dared to defy the trend in Tollywood.
