Acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kammula attended the inaugural ceremony of an academic film festival at Osmania University in Hyderabad. The 'Love Story' director gave away trophies to 13 winners at the film festival. The 24th Educational Film Festival was jointly organized by the University Grants Commission and the Consortium for Educational Communication. The audience in the Tagore Auditorium welcomed the star director enthusiastically.

On the occasion, the 'Fidaa' director shared his piece of advice. "I am very happy to be here. Hyderabad is not Biryani or Irani Chai. It is the home of great love. If you witness life in Hyderabad, you will fall in love with the city. The love story of Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah and Bhagmati was very beautiful. The Puranapul Bridge was built as a testimony to their love. Koti Women's College is also witness to a great love story. Love is seen everywhere in Hyderabad," Kammula said.

He added, "Osmania University also has a history like no other university in the country. Greats like PV Narasimha Rao, Shyam Benegal, and Azharuddin came from here. There are good movies that are useful for society. Not only our region and our country, but the whole world is watching cinema. Even if we don't exist today, our films will survive forever."

"Positive change should be brought through cinema. I try to do the same thing through my films. Cinema should be universal. Even a person who does not know the language should be able to understand the centrality of a film's message. A movie made today should be watched for another ten years," Kammula said.

"Look with empathy. We have to put aside our egos and advance with empathy. Even Einstein considers Gandhi to be a great man. I make films in the same way. That's why many people like my movies. Students are great if they work hard to achieve what they dream of," he added.
