Hollywood actress popularizes 'Sleep divorce'

We have heard of 'official divorce' and 'unofficial divorce'. We have even heard of the misspelled 'diworse'. What is this 'Sleep divorce'? The term has been popularized by Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz, who recently stated that separate bedrooms within relationships must be prioritized for quality sleep.

"Whether it's getting disturbed by snoring, stolen covers during the night, or differing schedules waking you up before your alarm, more people are turning to "sleep divorce," the practice of sleeping separately to avoid sleep troubles because of a partner," wrote CBS News recently.

The actress has spoken of something individualistic cultures like in the US will welcome. "It speaks to the importance of recognizing and respecting individual needs and preferences, even within a committed relationship. Indeed, love doesn't necessarily mean that you have to share a bed or a bedroom with your partner. It can be a sign of strength and maturity to acknowledge that each person has their own unique needs and to find ways to accommodate those needs within the relationship," wrote Joe Maristela, welcoming the actress' views.

Another Netizen wrote that she has lived this way for several years. "Sometimes we slept together, sometimes apart. The thing is people like their autonomy. I don't want a second skin. The whole clinginess makes me mental. It's a balancing act that involves a great friendship and definite attraction for one another," opined Diana Markovich.
