'Veera Simha Reddy' has been watched by Superstar Rajinikanth. The 'Jailer' actor, after watching the Sankranthi release, called up director Gopichand Malineni and feted him with compliments. The news was shared by the 'Balupu' maker himself.

"This is a surreal moment for me. Received a call from the Thalaivar, The Superstar Rajinikanth sir. He watched 'Veera Simha Reddy' and loved the film. His words of praise about my film and the emotion he felt are more than anything in this world to me," the director wrote on Twitter.

Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film stars Shruti Haasan as the heroine.

In an interview a day after the release, Malineni said that the film's actual story has been told in the second half. "Elevation scenes are confined to the first half. It is not easy to move the audience to tears, which is what the second half of 'VSR' does. The elevation scenes were easy for me to handle because I am a fan of Balayya Babu. The climax scene in which Varalaxmi Sarathkumar's character gets emotional touched the audience," he said.
