Speaking at an Expo earlier this week, Akkineni Nagarjuna predicted that Hyderabad has the potential to become the capital of India's film industry. That was big coming from him, considering that pan-India projects fail to get all VFX done in India (forget exclusively in Hyderabad) as things stand.

Speaking on the occasion, Nagarjuna opined that Hyderabad is emerging as the capital of the Indian film industry, adding that southern cinema has become the touchstone. "Amazing directors like Nag Ashwin are making films with their incredible talent. We have reached the Oscars too. The Telangana Government, Minister KTR, and the bureaucracy are lending their cooperation," he said, adding that Gaming, Animation, and VFX are growing segments in Hyderabad.

It is true that Animation and Gaming industries finding their foot in Hyderabad. Certain proactive policies are bearing fruit, but we are still many leagues behind. One hopes Nag's exuberant optimism will bear fruit in the future.

On the work front, Nag's 'Naa Saami Ranga' is scheduled to hit the cinemas for Sankranthi 2024. Its shoot is over to the tune of 50%. The film is a remake.
