Speaking at the inauguration of VFX Summit 2023 in Hyderabad on Tuesday, director Nag Ashwin spoke of the VFX work related to 'Kalki 2898 AD', his magnum opus headlined by Prabhas.

"I have worked in the VFX department of almost all films I assisted (before becoming a filmmaker). The quality of VFX done in India has gone up like anything in the past ten years. The quality has caught up in a big way. Even Hollywood studios are coming to India to collaborate with the best studios," the 'Yevade Subrahmanyam' maker said.

The 'Mahanati' director revealed that his initial goal was to complete all VFX work for Prabhas' movie in India itself. He was inspired by the 'Make in India' sentiment. A majority of the VFX for 'Kalki 2898 AD' has been done locally, as it hasn't been possible to do everything locally (for want of domestic capacity). Ashwin said that, for his upcoming movies, the entire VFX will be done within India without depending on foreign studios.

'Kalki' also stars Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan.
