In July 2007, Sanjay Dutt was convicted and sentenced to a six-year jail term for being in possession of an AK-56 rifle and his connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts. In his latest interview, actor Ram Pothineni called the Bollywood actor a saintly person.

"Two kinds of individuals get into trouble. Those who commit wrongdoings, and those who get trapped due to their excessive goodness," Ram said, giving a clean chit to Dutt, a convicted ex-criminal. Dutt is Ram's 'Double Ismart' co-star.

Ram further described Sanjay Dutt as a sweetheart. "He is extremely sweet. He comes with no baggage related to his past," Ram said with all the possible sweetness in the world.

Ram Pothineni's character certificate to Sanjay Dutt is supported by Rajkumar Hirani's 'Sanju', a propaganda biopic that was made to whitewash the Bollywood star and show him as a victim. Some of the glaring omissions and commissions in the movie were so shocking that, when it was released in theatres, there were articles criticizing the movie in national portals.
