Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and star filmmaker Atlee attended the Ambani wedding recently in Mumbai. Netizens are pointing fingers at their alleged hypocrisy.
"These guys make films that demonize corporates and villainize the billionaires. And they were the first ones to queue up to attend the Ambani wedding," a Twitter user wrote.
'Jawan', which hit the cinemas last year, was seen as a "commentary on India's rising wealth disparity and crony capitalism". The amount of money spent on the wedding, pre-wedding and post-wedding festivities was about Rs 5,000 Cr.
To be fair to the duo, they are not the only ones who make films that exploit the 'Corporates are villains' narrative. And most of them rub shoulders with one or another millionaire.
A lot of politicians who have tried to project the Ambani-Adani duo as corporate monsters have happily attended the Ambani wedding without batting an eyelid.
