'Laapataa Ladies' is the title of a small-scale social comedy from Bollywood. The film, produced by Aamir Khan, hit the cinemas on March 1. Starring Sparsh Srivastav, Chhaya Kadam, Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, and Ravi Kishan in lead roles, the film is directed by Kiran Rao (the ex-wife of the 'Laal Singh Chaddha' actor).

"The film is neither fully condemnatory of arranged marriages, nor starry-eyed about the practice, allowing for a gentle probing of perspectives," wrote The Guardian in its review. "Though some situations feel a tad contrived, and some characters are on the nose, you want to leap up and cheer when things go belly-up for the male jerks, and right for the lovely ladies," wrote Indian Express.

The Hindu wrote, "Rich in colour and context, the rustic dramedy on invisibilisation of women is fuelled by keenly observed writing and heartfelt performances."

While the story has been written by Biplab Goswami, the screenplay and dialogues are from Sneha Desai. The music is by Ram Sampath and Vikash Nowlakha is its cinematographer.
