Kamal Haasan has been called 'Ulaganayagan' and Universal Hero for decades now. All of a sudden, the iconic actor today requested his fans to desist calling him by such titles, sobriquets and prefixes. "It is my humble belief that the artist must not be elevated above the art. I prefer to remain grounded, constantly aware of my imperfections and my duty to improve. Hence, after considerable reflection, I feel compelled to respectfully decline all such titles or prefixes," he wrote on social media.
Previously, Ajith Kumar, too, made a similar request. "It's cool to see them going by their real names, it feels way more genuine. Well done, AK & KH," wrote a Tamil movie buff.
While it is commendable that the 'Vikram' and 'Indian 2' actor feels art is above the individual, it is strange that the lofty realization has come about a good two decades later.
