It is known that Ram Gopal Varma is facing legal issues due to the amplification of "derogatory" texts and "morphed" images targeting Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh in the past. He resorted to these when the YSRCP was in power in Andhra Pradesh.

On Wednesday, interacting with the media, former AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy came to RGV's defence. "RGV's movies (like 'Sapatham' and 'Vyooham') were approved by the CBFC. When those movies were released after they were duly certified, how come the filmmaker is being targeted by this government?" Jagan asked.

Jagan's critics have reminded him that RGV is facing complaints not for making those politically motivated movies but for the "derogatory" and "morphed" images. These will stand legal scrutiny if the courts believe that they are defamatory in nature. In that case, Ram Gopal Varma won't be able to claim that he used his Freedom of Expression. In movies, he didn't refer to real politicians and political parties by their names. So, he can't be prosecuted for those movies.
