Bigg Boss Telugu Season 8 is in trouble. Two of its contestants, both of whom belong to the same religious community, have been accused of communalizing the reality show.
In a viral video clip, Nabeel Afridi and Mehboob Dil Se are seen counting on the voting by Muslim viewers if and when they are up for elimination. Mehboob informs Nabeel of their significant advantage: community voting. He emphasizes that this could be a major benefit for them, but only if one of them were nominated. He cautions that divided community votes could weaken their position.
This is nothing but communalization of a show meant purely to entertain the viewers. "Would such a video have been released by the creators of the show had it involved two Hindu contestants talking about their caste-based voting? No," a Facebook user wrote.
Demands are on for Star MAA and Disney Plus Hotstar to ensure that such communal narratives are discouraged in the house. Akkineni Nagarjuna's intervention has also been called for in this regard.
