'The Legend Of Maula Jatt' is the highest-grossing Pakistani film of all time. Originally released in Pakistan in 2022, the action-adventure film is now up for an Indian release on October 2.

Its release in India has come to court controversy. Pakistani films have been regularly banned in India for the past many years. In fact, when the movie was released in Pakistan two years ago, its Indian release was stalled by authorities. Strangely, it has now been permitted, stoking a row.

The film features an open supporter of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed. Hamza Ali Abbasi, who played the film's antagonist, is celebrated as a Jihadi sympathizer in Pakistan.

Maharashtra politician Raj Thackeray, who is the supremo of MNS, has warned of an agitation if 'The Legend Of Maula Jatt' is screened in India. MNS Cinema Wing President Ameya Khopkar has almost threatened cinema owners by suggesting that their properties will be destroyed if they screen the Pakistani blockbuster. "We will beat up any Pakistani actor who comes to India," he added.
