Anil Sunkara's unprecedented flops and losses

Anil Sunkara's recent speech has sparked speculations about the quantum of losses his films have incurred in recent years. Sarileru Neekevvaru, which was released for Sankranthi 2020, was his last hit. Ever since the onset of the pandemic, he has only delivered disasters.

"After the failure of one of my movies, I happened to visit the Income-Tax office. There, a clerk pitied me and told me to listen to the story before investing in a movie. I told him that was a remake movie," Sunkara revealed, making an indirect reference to Bholaa Shankar.

The Chiranjeevi movie is among the biggest disasters the industry has ever seen as far as its theatrical performance is concerned. But Mega fans argue that it made money for the producer owing to its Netflix rights. However, they may not be aware of some post-theatrical re-negotiation that might have happened between the OTT platform and the producer. When a movie flops badly, OTTs reserve the right to re-negotiate the deal.

Anil Sunkara made heavy losses on Agent and Maha Samudram as well. His most recent release, Mazaka, was also a flop.
