Game Changer has entered the Rs 125 Cr club in terms of losses. The film is the only Rs 100 Cr plus loss venture from Tollywood after Prabhas' Radhe Shyam.
This is not the first time that a Ram Charan movie has made heavy losses for its distributors. Acharya in 2022 was a triple disaster. It featured the actor in a special role. It was essentially a Chiranjeevi movie, but since Charan was its producer, it can be included in his filmography.
Going a bit back, Vinaya Vidheya Rama had to break-even at Rs 92 Cr but it made just about Rs 60 Cr. Since it was released after the blockbuster Rangasthalam, distributors had staked a lot on it. But the Boyapati Sreenu directorial incurred heavy losses.
Early on in his career, Ram Charan started out well with Chirutha and Magadheera. But Orange made losses for both its producer Naga Babu and its distributors. Naga Babu was almost bankrupt and it took generous help from the Chiranjeevi-Pawan Kalyan duo to bail their brother out.
Ram Charan's attempt to go Bollywood resulted in a bummer with Zanjeer, which reportedly incurred losses to the tune of Rs 30 Cr in 2013. Its Telugu version, Thoofan, had no takers across territories.
