Mamta Kulkarni has acquired a new identity. She is no longer Mamta. She is Mai Mamta Nand Giri.
In the year 2016, she was named as one of the accused in a drugs case. She was accused of "supplying ephedrine for illicit manufacture of methamphetamine to a Rs 2,000 crore international drug racket". Her partner Vicky Goswami allegedly attended a meeting in an international drug ring in Kenya in January 2016, reports stated at that time.
Given her past, how come she has been made the Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj? The rank of Mahamandaleshwar means that she is a "superior of great and/or numerous monasteries".
