Does Aap Jaisa Koi promote cheating by wives? Netizens argue

Aap Jaisa Koi, the latest Netflix release, has been panned by a section of netizens for "promoting" adultery. In the movie, a middle-aged female Sanskrit professor based in Jamshedpur develops a relationship with Madhu Bose, a French instructor from Kolkata. A review opined that Aap Jaisa Koi is a "long-winded justification or rather glorification of an extra-marital affair".

Many netizens feel that, in the name of creative liberty, many OTT shows and originals are justifying cheating in marriage. "About time we have a charter of ethics for cinema," a social media user opined. "As an artist, you have the liberty to depict evil, but not promote, justify, or glorify it. That's tantamount to incitement to crime," an X user argued.

A section of those who have watched Aap Jaisa Koi contend that the movie doesn’t promote cheating. "Rather, it tells a story of equality and basic respect. It shows that women deserve dignity and shouldn’t be humiliated and that they should be allowed to choose what they want for themselves," a viewer added.
