Gopichand's career has been shaky for many years now. Pakka Commercial flopped miserably a couple of years ago, acting as a constraint in his career. Ramabanam and Viswam were disasters as well. Bhimaa came with an outdated storyline.
The actor has teamed up with Ghazi and Antariksham fame director Sankalp Reddy for a historical epic. The film is bankrolled by Srinivasaa Chitturi of Srinivasaa Silver Screen, a banner known mostly for flop movies (Skanda, The Warriorr, and Custody were disasters). Director Sankalp's track record has been middling. Antariksham was a flop.
The film, as per the makers, is based on an obscure 7th Century event. For Gopichand, this is a make-or-break movie of sorts. The same could be said for the director-producer duo as well. The genre implies that the budget is going to touch the roof. It follows that the movie will have to become a two-language hit at the very least unless the producer has figured out an ingenious way to control production costs.
