The Met Gala, often dubbed "fashion's biggest night," is one of the biggest global pop culture phenomena. The world's most prestigious and glamorous fashion event is not held for profit but for the purpose of fund-raising. The jaw-dropping annual haute couture fundraising festival is held for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in Manhattan.

Since Met Gala made its debut in 1948, ticket rates have only skyrocketed decade after decade. By 2024, a single ticket reached $75,000, with tables starting at $350,000. You can offer to pay any amount of money for the ticket but you won't automatically get an invite, no matter how big a celebrity you are in your country. You will gain an entry only if Vogue's Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour personally approves you.

So, how much does the event typically raise? Last year, Met Gala raised nearly $26 million, setting a record. In the current year, it reportedly hit $31 million, the highest in its history. Brands buy tables, dressing celebrities for free to showcase their designs.

Guests are banned from using phones or posting on social media inside the event to maintain exclusivity.

Only 400–700 people attend, handpicked from fashion, film, music, sports, and politics, get to attend the event. Regulars like Rihanna, Zendaya, and Kim Kardashian share the spotlight with first-timers.

From India, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh are attending the Met Gala this year.
