War 2 director Ayan Mukerji has opened up about directing the Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR movie for the first time since the project was announced two years ago. Days after the movie's teaser was released, he described it as a dramatic story. In other words, the YRF Spy Universe film is not just about breathtaking action and a clash between its two primary male actors.
"The core of this movie is a very powerful and dramatic story, which really surprised me the first time I heard its script, and has been extremely exciting (and challenging) for me to bring to life," Ayan wrote. Describing Kiara Advani as a "ray of sunshine" in the movie (her bikini shot in the teaser has been a viral hit), Ayan raised a toast to writer-producer Aditya Chopra. The story of War 2 has been written by Aditya Chopra; Ayan joined the project after it was written.
He then mentioned Hrithik and Jr NTR. "I cannot wait for our audiences to experience the magical work that these two giants have created in War 2. Not just with their mega movie-star energy but with the drama and depth that they have brought to their character," Ayan Mukerji added.
War 2 will head to theatres on August 14.
