Akhanda, upon its release in 2021, turned out to be a genre movie in its second half. Its generic first half got completely overshadowed by the strengths of the second half.
About 50% of Akhanda 2, once again, is being seen as a genre movie. In keeping with the spirit of the first part, the sequel features a Lord Shiva-themed song titled The Thaandavam Song. Jointly rendered with power by Shankar Mahadevan and Kailash Kher, the song is satisfying.
Speaking at the song launch event today in Mumbai, music director Thaman described the Boyapati Sreenu-Balakrishna duo as the best chemical solution. "They are the most brilliant-ever combo. How they both bring that proper energy. Just for the interval block, you can pay Rs 500 and it will be worth your money," Thaman said.
Boyapati stated that Akhanda 2 is not just a movie but the soul of India itself. The film, co-starring Aadhi Pinisetty and Samyuktha, will head to theatres on December 5.
