Revanth Reddy's speech: What issues did Ramoji Film City face?

Speaking at an event in Ramoji Film City on Sunday, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy said that the iconic place did face challenges (due to vendetta politics). What was he indirectly talking about? Let's have a look.

RFC and its founder, Late Ramoji Rao, have faced several legal and political challenges, primarily related to land acquisition and political rivalries. The founder and his associated firms faced legal challenges under the Andhra Pradesh Land Reforms Act. "In 2007, a tribunal ordered Ramoji Rao's family and firms to surrender over a thousand acres of land deemed in excess of the ceiling limit," an India Today article once stated.

Not just this, various parcels of land around or associated with the Film City have been subject to disputes, including claims by the State Wakf Board over some land. There were allegations, particularly from political rivals, regarding the acquisition of assigned land (land distributed to the landless poor).

While Revanth Reddy's reference to those issues was passing, Ramoji Film City, by and large, has remained immune to the changing regimes in then united Andhra Pradesh and Telangana since 2014.
