The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has served notices to two of Hyderabad's most prominent film establishments, Annapurna Studios and Ramanaidu Studios, demanding payment of a significantly enhanced trade license fee. GHMC officials stated that while both studios, reputed for building a solid cinema ecosystem in the city, have been consistently paying the trade license fee for many years, a discrepancy was discovered in the recorded extent of their premises. "The area currently listed in the trade license records is reportedly much smaller than the size determined by the authorities," news reports have said.
A revision of the trade license based on the more comprehensive property tax records, which includes the calculation of the enhanced fee component, will now be undertaken.
