Baahubali: The Beginning had a groundbreaking budget split

Baahubali: The Epic is slated to hit the cinemas on October 31st. The recut, remastered version combining both Baahubali movies into one grand narrative has a run-time of 3 hours 40 minutes.

Ahead of the movie's release, producer Shobu Yarlagadda has revealed that the budget of Baahubali: The Beginning was in the 80:20 ratio, meaning 80% went into production, while only 20% was spent on the fees of actors and technicians. He suggested that such a ratio in today's times would be difficult to imagine.

Since the movie's release, many big-ticket projects have only been able to dream of such scale and quality. Lack of planning is just one side of the story. It's possible that the producers of those dead-on-arrival projects couldn't grasp the nitty-gritty of pre-visualization, or the need to convince actors and directors not to seek excessive fees.

Credit goes to Prabhas and Rajamouli for letting the budget go into enhancing the visual quality of the film rather than enriching themselves. Baahubali: The Conclusion, however, must have seen a change in the proportion. This was justified by the excessive hype around the film and fat pre-release business deals.
