Is Netflix really acquiring Warner Bros.? Find out

Netflix is reportedly considering a bid to acquire parts of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), specifically the film studio and its streaming arm (Max/HBO). Netflix is not the only company interested. David Ellison's Skydance Media is a major player and is reportedly considering a bid for the entire WBD company.

However, as per the latest comments made by a co-CEO of Netflix, the rumour about Netflix is premature. As per Variety, Greg Peters of Netflix has downplayed the reports about the streaming giant's interest in acquiring Warner Bros. “We come from a deep heritage of being builders rather than buyers. One should have a reasonable amount of skepticism around big media mergers — they don’t have an amazing track record over time," Peters has been quoted as saying.

Warner Bros. Discovery is carrying a significant amount of debt, which is a factor in the ongoing sale speculation. The sale or acquisition of such a major studio would be a game-changing event that would reshape the Hollywood landscape, a commentator recently said.
