Narayan Seva Sansthan conducting free artificial limbs measurement in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, 1st November 2020: Post COVID-19 many families have found it difficult to maintain a sustainable livelihood and the most affected by this pandemic have been the differently-abled individuals. Narayan Seva Sansthan - a charitable organization that runs charitable hospitals in the country for the differently-abled, in particular polio and those who are disabled by birth, started a campaign to offer artificial limbs in 9 cities. During the artificial limbs measurement camp, NSS measured and shortlisted patients for surgery 50 differently abled including providing free calipers at Esamia Bazar, Esamia Bazar Koti, Hyderabad on Sunday. NSS has successfully been assisting the differently-abled during COVID-19 to get a sustainable livelihood through food distributions, artificial limbs distribution and many other activities allowing them to be acceptable in the mainstream society.

As a part of the safety measures carried during COVID-19, NSS shall follow the norms of social distancing and wearing masks which will be followed by senior prosthetics and orthotics specialist team assisting in the artificial limbs measurement camps. These camps will be organized under the observation of a senior prosthetics and orthotics specialist team, where people affected by polio will be inspected, as well as those who lost their feet due to diabetes, accidents etc.

Mr. Prashant Agarwal, President of Narayan Seva Sansthan shared, “We at Narayan Seva Sansthan are working for the upliftment of the differently abled and underprivileged individuals. In most cases, differently-abled individuals are able to lead a normal life with a perfectly fitted artificial limb. We are committed to bringing the differently abled community to the main stream society by empowering them physically, socially and economically.”

Prior to the outbreak of the Pandemic, NSS has conducted 420250 corrective surgeries, 13612 artificial limbs distribution camp and has achieved distributing 269803 Wheel Chairs. The organisation is also planning to resume its camps on food distribution on a larger scale in order to extend its support to the needy and the more deserving individuals of the society.
