'Bazaar Rowdy' is all set to head to the theatres on August 20. In this interview, director Vasantha Nageswara Rao talks about the movie, what it is about, working with Sampoornesh Babu and more.

I have no film background. With the aim of becoming a filmmaker, I migrated to Madras after my 10th Class. I faced a lot of hurdles there. I worked as an apprentice on small movies. I joined the Padmalaya Studios. I worked under the likes of Krishna garu, PC Reddy, V Madhusudhana Rao and others. I made a film titled 'Aunty Uncle Nandagopal' with Vadde Naveen in 2010. I have also directed a Kannada movie.

It was on my friends' advice that I narrated the story of 'Bazaar Rowdy' to Sampoornesh Babu, who felt that it's quite unique. He got me introduced to the producer of the film and that's how the project fell into place. 'Bazaar Rowdy' is quite different from 'Hrudaya Kaleyam' and 'Kobbari Matta'.

The title has not been chosen for craze or just like that. The title is apt for the story. How Sampoo's character becomes a rowdy, why he became one and the consequences, therefore, are shown.

Sampoornesh Babu has done comedy right from the word go in the movie. He has shown a new angle. He has not played a dual role but his character has got two shades. He has also got into the Bobbili Puli get-up of Late NTR.

The action scenes done by Sampoo are different compared to his previous movies. His dances, too, are different. For the producer, this is his first movie. He is a passionate producer. Coming to the music, Sai Kartheek has given three superb tunes. The fourth song is a title song. Actress Maheshwari is a Telugu girl who is well-versed in Kuchipudi. She is a feted dancer.

'Bazaar Rowdy' is coming out in nearly 300 theatres. I hope the audience are going to enjoy it.
