‘Athiloka Sundari’ Sridevi was and still remains a dream girl for many Indian males. The actress who ruled the roost as top heroine for two dacades in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, which is in 80s and 90s, is making her re-entry into films with a trilingual film ‘English Vinglish’ after a 14-year hiatus and retirement from films. During the long interval she was fully concentrating on her family and children. Now, 14 years after the break, Sridevi appears more pretty and energetic. As part of promotional campaign, she visited Hyderabad along with her ‘English Vinglish’ team. On this occasion after the release of Telugu version trailer at PVR Cinemas, she had a small chit chat with the media during the press meet. Some excerpts are:

Sridevi started off saying, “I faced the camera after a very long gap.  But I never had the feeling of distancing myself from films because of film atmosphere at my house.  Since my husband is a producer, I keep listening to stories.  Hence I feel I hardly missed the film industry.  It’s like taking leave on Sunday and getting back to work on Monday."

About the film English Vinglish:  "Gauri’s story narration touched deep into my heart.  I will be seen as a normal housewife in this film.  It tells in a humours manner, the fact of difficulties faced by a person when she doesn’t know to speak a foreign language.  This film will also depict my real life experiences for the reason that I faced many problems when I worked in other languages which I couldn’t follow."

About her shooting experience: "The shooting atmosphere appeared fresh and I could see lot of changes now.  However, one should learn to get accustomed to these changes.  There is vast development in technology.  Off late, graphics is playing prominent role.  Still according to me the directors can use the technology only to certain limit.  They will be successful only when they are able to connect with audience with their story."

“I liked the entire film and loved my character.  I would certainly do more films provided I get suitable stories.  I used to feel happy whenever my fans would ask me when I would be joining films again.  I want my fans to long for my comeback and not repent.  Hence this long gap!”, she concluded .
