YFLO cordially invites you to an interactive session on "Role of Parents and Educational Institutions in Shaping the Future Generation" with our Chief Guests - Dr. Daggubati Purandeswari (Minister of State for Human Resource Development); Mrs Ratna D. Reddy (Director CHIREC Public School) and Mr. Manek N. Daruvala (Founder ofT.I.M.E Institute) on 18th October 2011, Taj Krishna Emerald Hall at 3pm.
Press Release
We are witnessing an extraordinary change happening to the world around us, both in the exponential growth of new opportunities, rapid change in our environment and also worsening of social and economic issues.
In the Indian context, the educational institutions lack the most basic of necessities like proper infrastructure facilities, quality teachers ete. In a country with30% of it population under the age of 15, are our institutions equipped to provide the students with the right skills for them to succeed in this competitive world? The ones that are well equipped are blamed for being too commercial. If private sector participation is required, how many would participate if profit making is not one of the motives.
Many times parents push their wards hard to achieve stellar results putting them under intense pressure. Parents aspire to force their dreams on their children thinking it is in their best interests. In a country like India the focus is examination based and not learning based. Can you blame the parents for pushing their child to excel because they cannot afford donations and need their child to score well to get in a good school or college?
YFLO encourages you to join us while our members share, explore and exchange views with our chief guests - the existing barriers in our education system and how can we productively educate the future generation today.

Comment from YFLO Hyderabad Chairperson (2011- 12)
Swapna Cherukuri
"One of the best ways to bridge the gap between 'the haves' and 'the have nots' is through quality education. 64 years post Independence, the Right To Education is still a dream on paper. In a world where we are training the next generation to solve problems that we have not yet faced, are we doing enough? Education needs significant reforms if we have to make a difference to world matters"
