100% in cinema halls: AP joins Telangana, other States

Andhra Pradesh is the latest state to announce that cinema halls can operate at full capacity. For the past couple of months, in view of the Omicron-induced wave, the occupancy was reduced to 50% by the YCP government.

Telangana didn't impose the 50% norm during the third wave. Now, AP, too, is going to see the 100% occupancy norm in force.

The decision is a shot in the arm for the upcoming big-ticket movies. But the fullest potential won't be mined unless the cinema ticket prices in AP are revised at the earliest. A benevolent Government Order is expected to be delayed furthermore if some speculations are anything to go by.

'Bheemla Nayak', which will head to theatres on Feb 25, will be the first major film to make benefit from the 100% norm in AP. Will the cinema ticket prices be revised before it arrives? That's a question for another day.
