Chiranjeevi thanks Jagan even as doubts remain

As soon as the Jaganmohan Reddy government on Monday issued a new Government Order revising the cinema ticket rates, Chiranjeevi thanked the Chief Minister for taking steps to help the movie industry.

In his post, the 'Acharya' actor said that allowing the 5th show for small movies is a welcome step that will benefit small producers.

Even as Chiru has thanked Jagan and Minister Perni Nani, not many are sure how the rule regarding the 5th show is going to pan out in practice. The 5th show is reserved for small films made on a budget of less than Rs 20 Cr (including remuneration paid to cast and crew) between 11 am to 9 pm. Such specific rules are hard to implement. Theatres flout rules when they have nothing much to benefit by screening a failed small movie for the sake of it. The problem is aggravated on festival days when a big film and a small film are in the race. If 50 audience members are ready to watch a small movie but 150 are ready to watch a big movie, it makes no business sense for a cinema hall to screen the former. The cinema hall decides to disrespect the rule and officials are bribed so they look the other way.

Whatever it may be, for now, Chiru has sounded welcoming.
