I am there for 70-80% of the run time of 'Bro': Pawan Kalyan

The pre-release event of 'Bro' was held in a grand manner on Tuesday night. Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kalyan poured his heart out. Here are some of the key highlights of his long speech:

I will be seen for 70-80% of the run time. It is not a guest role. If I could shoot for my portions in just 21 days, it's only because of director Samuthirakani's planning and his perfect coordination with cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev.

It was my friend Trivikram's call that I and Sai Tej do this film. I was not inclined to wait for Sai Tej, who was yet to recover from the road accident-induced injuries he suffered in late 2021. He was not fully healthy by the time the film went on the floors. He had taken on speech therapy. When he met with that accident, I was depressed seeing him in a state of coma. I prayed to the Divine above us to cure him. It was a Muslim man who saved him by rushing him to the hospital from the accident spot. We get help from unexpected quarters. Caste and religion are artificial barriers.

I never recommended Sai Tej's name to any director. He bagged his first film because its director happened to spot him at an event.

I admire Samuthirakani's respect for Telugu. After he bagged 'Bro', he literally learned to read Telugu. On set, I was surprised to catch him with the script papers written in Telugu! I have this desire to speak chaste Tamil, thanks to the inspiration he has given me.

This is my third film with Thaman. Producers TG Vishwa Prasad and Vivek Kuchibotla coordinated the project so well keeping in mind my political commitments.

Trivikram is someone I am proud of. When we sit together, we always discuss literature and science. He is a Gold Medalist in MSc. Nuclear Physics. He can throw light on the thoughts of Telugu literary giants like a pro.

I never wanted to become an actor. To me, actors were Chiranjeevi garu, NTR garu, ANR garu and Krishna garu. My Vadina is the one person who pushed me to become an actor. But for her mistake, I would have been an anonymous farmer today.

The Telugu film industry's stature is rising. I endorse the spirit of competitiveness between actors. When films like 'Baahubali' and 'RRR' script history, I feel like doing something like that. I can't dedicate many years to a single project like Prabhas. I can't dance like Jr NTR and Ram Charan. I want the Telugu film industry to keep growing. Mahesh Babu's film with SS Rajamouli will be special.
