Mollywood Megastar Mammootty has been inundated with applause for playing a homosexual husband in the latest Malayalam cinema release, 'Kaadhal - The Core'. Netizens, mainly cinephiles, feel that the actor deserves a National Award for his nuanced portrayal.

As per the story, the protagonist's wife (played by Jyothika) files for divorce on grounds of cruelty just before he attempts to contest an election. "Matthew isn’t a violent or abusive man, but his wife Omana’s contention is that her husband is gay and that she has been denied her conjugal rights in the marriage," writes Money Control in its review.

The legendary actor has been treated to superlative praises. "Can't stop being shook about Mammootty doing 'Kaadhal - The Core'! True stardom lies in its confidence to be an unapologetically actor.. to absolutely get rid of insecurity.. to amp up the voice for stories that need them.. and Mammootty is flexing it left, right and center," wrote Dev Ved.

Another Twitter user opined that Mammootty has been showing his class and sanity in judgement in the post-pandemic era with respect to the evolving tastes and the world we are living in. "Truly one of a kind Indian superstar who still hasn't done with amazing us," he added.
