'Martin Luther King' Trailer: Sampoornesh Babu is both comical and moving!

'Martin Luther King', directed by debutante Poja Kolluru, is slated to be released in theatres on October 27. A political satire, its trailer is out.

Sampoornesh Babu plays an orphan who is addressed as 'Smile' by everyone in the village. Sharanya Pradeep's character finds it demeaning and christens him as Martin Luther King.

Meanwhile, two self-serving and entitled feudalists contest for the President's post in the village. Venkatesh Maha's character promises a Goa trip to all and sundry if he wins the election. VK Naresh's character promises to deposit Rs 15,000 into each other's bank account, knowing full well that he won't be doing it.

The Burning Star delivers both a funny and moving performance. The trailer is engaging and a political message is expected. The protagonist plays an underdog whose vote is wanted by both sides. And since he sells his vote for the highest bidder and yet has no clue what the election is all about, he is the mirror image of the ill-informed commoner.

In his latest interview, Naresh said that 'MLK' is less of a remake and more of an adaptation. "The political climate of the Telugu States has been reflected by 'MLK'. It is also coming out at a time when elections are nearing," he added.

Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations is the distributor for the Telugu States. AP International is the distributor for Overseas territories.
