'Animal' Teaser garners mixed reactions

The teaser for 'Animal' was unveiled on Thursday marking Ranbir Kapoor's birthday. 'Arjun Reddy' director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has cast Ranbir and Anil Kapoor as the son-father duo.

As has been speculated, the premise of the story is this: a disgruntled son becomes a gangster-like entity and wreaks havoc on his father. The setting is a dysfunctional family. A lot of sadistic bloodshed can be expected. Rashmika Mandanna is a mute spectator, while Bobby Deol has a malevolent role.

While the teaser is effective, it is drawing muted responses from those who have had unrealistically high expectations from Vanga. They are of the view that the teaser is not violent enough. But then, this is just a teaser. The film's trailer might, at more than three minutes, bring out the 'bloodlust' with more intensity.

It is interesting that some people are holding out that they are "perversely fascinated" by the promised violence. On the other hand, others are hoping that 'Animal' has characters with proper arcs and zero toxicity.

Written, directed and edited by Vanga, the T-Series production will head to theatres on December 1.
