Vijay Deverakonda's first movie as a male lead was 'Pelli Choopulu'. He played the secondary male lead in 'Yevade Subrahmanyam', which happened a year before 'Pelli Choopulu'. Before both these movies, he was supposed to do a lead role in 'Kerintha' but got rejected in the audition stage.

There is another film that Vijay was supposed to do but lost out on it due to some communication gap. Director Ravi Babu has revealed that the 'Family Star' actor was considered for the male lead's role in 'Avunu', which starred Poorna as a beleaguered housewife. Since he couldn't be reached out in time due to some issue, Harshavardhan Rane was chosen.

Ravi Babu, who is currently helming 'Rush' for ETV Win, went on to direct 'Avunu 2', 'Adhugo', 'Aaviri', 'Crrush' and 'Asalu', all of which were flops. Allari Naresh's 'Laddu Babu' was decent.
