Cornell University summit says 'Naatu Naatu' projected Kamma caste

Cornell University in New York has held an anti-caste summit named 'Rethinking the Politics of Caste Narratives Globally'. Sumeet Samos, a research scholar, vented out against the Oscar-winning 'Naatu Naatu' in his address.

He reportedly asked the Westerns to not get "fooled" by dances, food and colourful costumes (from Indian cinema). He suggested that these don't recognize the caste narratives embedded in them, adding that the popular song from 'RRR' "projects the Kamma caste which exploited lower castes".

'Naatu Naatu' receiving global recognition is not to the liking of many within India. In the name of anti-casteism, the song has been besmirched by some in the name of intellectualism.

'Naatu Naatu' fetched an Oscar for MM Keeravani and Chandrabose. Jr NTR and Ram Charan became familiar to many Western filmmakers, thanks to 'RRR'.
