Dil Raju, Distributors throw bombshells about the bad shape of Tollywood

At a meet to celebrate Sankranthiki Vasthunam today, bombshells were thrown by the hosts. Producer Dil Raju was at the forefront of telling everyone how bad things are in the Telugu film industry.

1. Distributors have been forced to lie:

Film distributors have been made to put a facade about collections made by many movies. If they don't inflate the numbers, heroes get angry and they will not be given distribution rights the next time, a distributor pointed out explicitly. This was an indictment of the entire top brass of Tollywood.

2. Public trust in box office collections has dwindled:

A distributor stated that posters that talk about collections (almost every time, they are inflated) have been mocked by the audience. "The posters have been ridiculed. Nobody believes that those collections are authentic," he added.

3. Distributors' family members are mostly unhappy:

The family members of most film distributors are never happy. They actively discourage the distributors from continuing in the film industry.

4. Most films are being released on commission basis:

The weakened financial stamina of distributors has meant that outright purchases have come down drastically.

5. Revenue-sharing arrangements must go up:

Dil Raju opined that heroes and distributors preferring the revenue-sharing model will be a golden opportunity for producers. He added that Pushpa 2 was done like that.

6. Producers of big heroes are helpless:

Dil Raju hinted that the Day 1 poster of Game Changer (which claimed that the opening day collections were Rs 186 Cr) exposed the helpless position of producers. The Ram Charan-starrer had made Rs 100 Cr less than the claimed figure on Day 1.
